Witzenmann at Kormarine 2009
As in previous years, the Witzenmann Group of Pforzheim, Germany, presented new products for ship-building and motor construction at this year's Kormarine, the international trade fair for ship-building and marine products in Busan, South Korea. Among other things, compensators used as decoupling elements with differentiated connecting parts for ship motors had be exhibited.
When the international shipping trade fair Kormarine exhibited the latest developments and products for ship-building and marine applications on 21-24 October, Witzenmann was there, presenting proven products and innovative solutions.
Compensators as decoupling elements for ship motors – this is one of the main areas of activity of Witzenmann. The parts are designed and manufactured individually from stainless steel for each individual and used as a functional element in various areas of applications of the respective motor. For each motor, special connecting parts guarantee fast, uncomplicated mounting, even in case of narrow installation conditions.
In addition to stainless steels, stainless steel alloys that are resistant to high temperatures and special materials can also be processed upon customer request, for example, due to special requirements in regard to temperatures or corrosion, as is the case with motors driven by landfill gas or biogas.
The offer also includes exhaust gas and oil return lines for the compensation of heat expansion and mounting tolerances, such as flexible air lines for the gas-tight and oil-tight suction and charge air supply of the motor and aggregates. According to the application, metal hoses or flexible pipelines with bellows elements are used.
Line systems combined with both rigid and flexible components as flameproof systems in gas or liquid drains are also part of the product range.
For new technologies like dual fuel motors, the family-owned company also offers optimum solutions. These motors can be operated with heavy oil and gas and are mainly designed for gas tankers. In the case of stationary land facilities, the dual fuel technologies are becoming increasingly standard.
For both areas of application, double-walled lines and double-layer compensators are used. Strict guidelines apply to both manufacturing and use.
For this purpose, all international approvals have been obtained. In addition, Witzenmann is a member of the international industrial association EJMA (Expansion Joint Manufacturers Association) and Euro-Qualiflex and is thus obliged to follow the strictest, highest standards.
As a development partner, Witzenmann also takes part in the development and construction of new motors with its own solutions. Among other things, this includes special metal hoses for fuel, air, and lubricating oil lines, with which the company makes a considerable contribution. This is made possible by numerous test programs, which the engineers can perform in house at Witzenmann. In the process, they use the company's own electrodynamic vibration test stands, hot air and service life testing systems, corrosion testing devices, and much more.
With customers from Asia, America, and Europe, Witzenmann is one of the leading development partners and industry supplier in the world.
The Witzenmann company group
"Managing flexibility" is the claim and vision of the Witzenmann Group.
In 1885, jewellery manufacturer Heinrich Witzenmann of Pforzheim founded the metal hose and compensator industry with the invention of the metal hose. Now, after more than 120 years, the Witzenmann Group is one of the worldwide leading manufacturers of flexible metallic elements like metal hoses, compensators, and vehicle parts. 3,000 employees at 23 sites worldwide earned a turnover of EUR400 million in 2008.
